A little TLC for Volunteer

Trusty old Volunteer did us proud last year, unfortunately she could do with a little TLC (prep & paint) before going back in the water.

So if you fancy getting you hands dirty, didn’t have enough at the work party the week before, and can spare a little time, we’d love to see you Saturday / tomorrow from about 10…

We will have on site catering courtesy of Andy & Nick Hutcheon, bacon roll for breakfast and French stick Pizza for lunch I believe, but you’ll need to pre-order (PM me / Andy) so as not to be disappointed.

Many thanks!!

Work party reminder

Hi all, just a reminder we’ve a BSC work party scheduled for Sunday 24th March 9:30-2 ish.

Work will be focusing on getting ready for the start of the season, with jobs for all skill levels, both inside & out. So if you can spare an hour or so it’d be great to see you there ……especially the newbies as it a great way to integrate into the club!

Materials and most of the tools will be proved, along with bacon rolls, tea & coffee.

Suggest you bring your old clothes (waterproof if you fancy outdoor / pontoon jobs), gloves & safety glasses. Please PM me if you’d like to be penciled in for a specific job, and if anyone has specific trailer tools / experience please shout.

Selection of jobs planned:

  • Pontoon jet wash, inspection and maintenance.
  • Preparation of flames for antifouling
  • BSC 3 RIB puncture repair
  • Boat trailer maintenance (own tools would be useful)
  • Clean cooker hoods & extracts
  • Kitchen tiling (just a little, own tools would be useful)
  • Touch up of Club house interior paintwork
  • Washing windows & front of club house.
  • Clearing of gutters
  • Security improvements
  • Ongoing maint of car park potholes
  • Garden tidy & general weeding (own tools would be useful)
  • Litter pick & rubbish removal.

Much appreciated

Another Pontoon gate lock update

Another Pontoon gate lock update, how exciting!

After many attempts & much scratching of heads it hasn’t been possible to get the pontoon lock working robustly for all, it has now been declared defunct…..looks like it’d seen some abuse along the way.

For the time being it has been replaced with a combination padlock & chain.

BSC members wishing to use the pontoon are asked to contact either myself, Fiona Fraser, Di Collingbourne, Thomas Harrison, Clive Marfleet for the combination.

Thank you for your patience & support.

Regards

James VanSchagen (House) + glamorous assistant Marcus C.

Pontoon gate lock update

Pontoon gate lock update: as of today the way in which to operate the lock on the pontoon gate has changed slightly.

The code remains the same, but the lock will now latch open after use. To lock the gate simply enter the code and turn the handle the opposite way (a little more force maybe required to lock, but unlocking is easier)

BSC Mini Summer work Party, Sunday 15th July

Just a friendly reminder 🙂

BSC Mini Summer work Party, Sunday 15th July, 9:30 – 12.00 (ish)

Hi All, we’re looking to tackle a few outsidey type jobs around the club and on the pontoon whilst the weathers good, so if you could lend a hand for a couple of hours it’d be great to see you.

The 2 big jobs we’d like to tackle are the preparation / painting of the decking area, and installation of cages around piles on the pontoon, but there will also be a number of smaller jobs to suit all skill levels.

Materials provided, along with tea, coffee & bacon rolls, please bring appropriate clothing, gloves & general tools for your area of expertise.

Look forward to seeing you.

James V

PS: as this clashes with the Pond day we’re not expecting to see any pond parents, enjoy your day!

Pontoon Restricted Access

Pontoon Restricted Access

Due to a recent influx of unwelcome guests, access to the pontoon has now been restricted with an additional padlock. The gates will be open as usual on Wednesday and Friday evenings, Members wishing to use the pontoon outside these times are asked to liaise with Fiona Fraser (ffraser7@yahoo.co.uk).  Working is being undertaken to resolve with a more permanent solution ASAP, please bear with us.
