Just a quick reminder that the Junior / Dinghy prize giving will be taking place this Sunday the start time is now around 1600 as the club is hosting Feva training this weekend so the prize giving will be after the training. i look forward to seeing you all on Sunday.
The junior prize giving for the 2014 season will be held at the BSC on Sunday 23rd at 1500, this will be an afternoon tea event. We will be presenting the dinghy prizes for the Wednesday evening series and the special prizes for Friday night training. Any offers of cakes etc for the event will be welcome.
There will be a work party on Saturday 18th October from around 9am. The first job will be to recover the Flames and winterise the engines but there are plenty of other end of season jobs to do (weather permitting).
David McPherson will be coordinating the tasks so if you want a specific job he can be contacted on email@example.com
We do have lots of members so it would be nice to see some new faces at the work party!
The BSC is hosting a Wine Tasting Evening on Fri 19th September. Come down to the club and enjoy an evening sampling up to 7 wines followed by cheese board, pate & crackers. Served to you by Harry, Jamie & Joe fund raising for their African Adventure. Full details of this event including dress code and costs can be found here.
Further to the previous posting about there being no Wednesday night racing on the 27th due to Burnham Week, I can confirm that Race 4 of the Summer Series will be held on the 3rd September and the Crew’s Race will be pushed back to the 10th September.
See you on the “Burnham Line”.
The BSC is hosting the Burnham Week JCC Cocktail Party this Friday the 22nd August. Therefore the Clubhouse will NOT be available during Friday night sailing. HOWEVER, sailing can and will go ahead as normal (changing rooms will be available) and it would be good to see as many dinghies out there as possible.
Please note that it has just been brought to our attention that the Sailing Program indicates that there will be a race on Wednesday 27th August and junior sailing on Friday 29th August. This is an error.
As you know these dates fall in Burnham Week and as is traditional there will be no sailing from the BSC on the Wednesday or the Friday.
PS – Friday the 29th August is the Commodore’s Cocktail Party to which all members are invited from 7pm onwards.
Reminder : The annual seafood supper will be held on Tuesday 26th August 2014 at the BSC Clubhouse.
In previous there has been a waiting list for this extremely popular event – we are not quite there yet but book now to avoid disappointment.
For bookings and further details contact John and Margaret Mellard on 01621 782600 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
UPDATE : Tickets selling fast. £20 / head.
Commodore’s Cruise Sunday 10th August
This Sunday is the Commodores Cruise to Fambridge. In the absence of our Commodore the Vice Commodore Richard Tucker will be leading the cruise. We plan to sail down to Fambridge, moore at the Floating pontoon (there is normally a charge for this) and go ashore to have lunch at the Ferry Boat pub. Then sail back with the ebb tide. It would be helpful if you could notify Richard via email email@example.com if you intend to come and require lunch at the pub so that we can advise them of numbers. The plan would be to leave at around 1045 from the BSC.
Please be aware that this event is weather dependent – there is a possibility that it may be windy and wet on Sunday. However at the time of writing this it is not confirmed and may well pass through before or after our planned event so we will be keeping a watchful eye on the weather situation.
