If you are able to take a junior aboard, please email me on sallyharbott@yahoo.co.uk  and our junior coordinators will match you with a junior sailor.

If you are not a sailor, the club will be open for afternoon tea on each of those days. Come along and watch and support the club and enjoy good company and entertainment.

Safety boat rota

Hi all Wednesday evening dinghy racers,

As club Commodore Alan Hanna mentioned in his 2018 Sailing Season Information post previously, to help with the smooth running of the club and to ensure that everyone who races gets as much racing as possible, the Sailing Committee this year has introduced a safety boat roster for Wednesday evenings, which has just been rejiggled to account for all apparent racing members and parents so please have a look, below.

BSC safety 23418

Average series points will be given for those covering safety boat duty.

If you can’t cover your shift, please swap with someone else and let me know, and don’t hesitate to contact me if any problem- kaha123@hotmail.co.uk

Thanks for your support on behalf of the sailing committee.

Friday Evening Galley Duty

Hi All,

Our Friday night Junior sailing commences this week and we are putting together a rota for Galley duty. We only have 22 sessions to cover so with two people in the galley each week, only need 44 volunteers.

We have created a poll for members to select which sessions they are able to do. Please volunteer if you can by filling out the poll….

Dinghy Park – unidentified boats

Good afternoon,

With the sailing season about to start, a team of us have spent a great many hours sorting the dinghy park and tidying the boats. There are a few boats left where we are unsure of the owner. Please see the attached document and if any of the boats pictured belong to you, or you know the owner, please contact me on ffraser7@yahoo.co.uk

EDIT: There is also a blue wayfarer, sail number 9047 that we are unsure of the owner.

Also, you have not yet paid this years dinghy park fee for your boat, please do so as soon as possible.

Many thanks

Cruiser Racing Handicap system for 2018

There has been a lot of discussion over the winter period about handicap systems and which one would best for us. To help with the decision we have decided on the following.

Class 1 will continue to use the BSC local progressive system and IRC. (this is unchanged from last year)
Class 3 will continue to use the BSC local progressive system and we will trial NHC. This will allow us to compare each fleet with a known system and give us some data to work with.

Regards
Alan Hanna

2018 Sailing Season Information

After a very long winter our sailing season has finally arrived. This Wednesday 11th April sees the practice race for the cruiser fleets and next week 18th April (pontoon permitting) see’s Race 1 of the spring series for all fleets.

Please note we have changed the Keelboat Course Card  quite a bit so please download it from the website before Wednesday. (Remember the clanger trophy needs a home).

We have also made some changes to help with the smooth running of the club but we will need your support in helping us achieve this.

We have introduced a Safety boat roster to help the racebox team and to try and ensure that everyone who races gets as much racing as possible. We have tried to include as many people as possible on the roster but I am sure that some of the dates you have been assigned will clash with personal commitments. With this in mind if you cannot cover your shift please swap with someone else and let Karen Hamilton know. If you cannot find anyone to swap with then please give us as much notice as possible by contacting Karen and letting her know.

For those sailors that are covering their shift you will receive average points for the race calculated over the series.

We have also put together a rota which covers Friday nights activities like Galley duty , lockup, launching / recovery of Ribs etc.  We have tried to include as many as possible on the rota.  However if you feel you have been overlooked or would like to help out in some way please contact Fiona .

Remember it’s your club so thank you for supporting your club and I look forward to seeing you on the water.
