Burnham Week – Afternoon Tea at the BSC

Hi All,

Can anyone lend a hand on Monday 27th August to serve tea and cakes at the club (from 12:00 to 4.30pm)?

Judging on how busy we were last year I think we will need at least four people per shift, with three shifts, each of an hour and a half.

I will be there for the duration so need three more people for each shift:

12.00 – 13.30

13.30 – 15.00

15.00 – 16.30

We will also need some lovely cakes to sell. Here are some suggestions:

Large cakes : Chocolate, Coffee, Lemon Drizzle, Carrot, Fruit ….

Small cakes : Scones, Brownies, Flapjacks, Cupcakes etc.

Please email Tracy (tracy.saunders1@btopenworld.com) to let me know which shift you can do and/or which cakes you can contribute.

Many thanks,

Tracy

Another Pontoon gate lock update

Another Pontoon gate lock update, how exciting!

After many attempts & much scratching of heads it hasn’t been possible to get the pontoon lock working robustly for all, it has now been declared defunct…..looks like it’d seen some abuse along the way.

For the time being it has been replaced with a combination padlock & chain.

BSC members wishing to use the pontoon are asked to contact either myself, Fiona Fraser, Di Collingbourne, Thomas Harrison, Clive Marfleet for the combination.

Thank you for your patience & support.

James VanSchagen (House) + glamorous assistant Marcus C.

Pontoon gate lock update

Pontoon gate lock update: as of today the way in which to operate the lock on the pontoon gate has changed slightly.

The code remains the same, but the lock will now latch open after use. To lock the gate simply enter the code and turn the handle the opposite way (a little more force maybe required to lock, but unlocking is easier)

BSC Mini Summer work Party, Sunday 15th July

Just a friendly reminder 🙂

BSC Mini Summer work Party, Sunday 15th July, 9:30 – 12.00 (ish)

Hi All, we’re looking to tackle a few outsidey type jobs around the club and on the pontoon whilst the weathers good, so if you could lend a hand for a couple of hours it’d be great to see you.

The 2 big jobs we’d like to tackle are the preparation / painting of the decking area, and installation of cages around piles on the pontoon, but there will also be a number of smaller jobs to suit all skill levels.

Materials provided, along with tea, coffee & bacon rolls, please bring appropriate clothing, gloves & general tools for your area of expertise.

Look forward to seeing you.

James V

PS: as this clashes with the Pond day we’re not expecting to see any pond parents, enjoy your day!

Junior Pond Session & Camping

Hi All,

Next Sunday 15th July, is our pond session for all the new, (currently!) non-sailors. This is held at Ratsborough Farm, Southmminster. If you would like your child to take part, please email Marcus on marcus.collingbourne@gmail.com.

We will be camping the night before (Saturday 14th July). Camping is £12 per night, per tent – dogs on leads are welcome at £1 per dog, per night. You can set up from 9am on the Saturday.

Marcus & I are at a sailing event during the day at the club so won’t be down till late afternoon but we will bring the club gas BBQ and you are all more than welcome to cook on it. I’ll bring a rounders set and hopefully we can have a game.

If you would like to camp, please let me know – I can then let Ratsborough know how many of us will be coming. Even if your child is not taking part in the pond session, you are still more than welcome to join us for camping.

Thanks,

Fiona

RIB

There is a RIB (pictured below) that appeared in our overflow car park a couple of weeks ago. We are unsure who owns it.

If it belongs to you or you have any information, please contact ffraser7@yahoo.co.uk.

Many thanks,
